The Campaign Wizard is the advertiser-facing system for creating new Campaigns in WaypointAds Commercial. While the Administrator establishes the available Zones, advertising rates and permissions, the Wizard gives advertisers a guided way to build a Campaign using those choices without requiring access to Joomla administration.

For the Administrator, this Tutorial is primarily about understanding what happens on the other side of WaypointAds. You normally won't create an advertiser's Campaign through these panels. Instead, you provide the advertising opportunities and WaypointAds guides the advertiser through selecting and using them.

### Beginning a New Campaign

From the Advertiser Portal, the advertiser can choose to create a new Campaign. The first step asks for a Campaign Title and displays the website locations currently available for advertising.

These locations are the advertising Zones established by the Administrator. The advertiser sees useful customer-facing information about each one, including its name, required dimensions, advertising rate and description.

This allows an advertiser to make a meaningful choice without needing to know anything about Joomla module positions or the technical configuration behind the Zone. They see the advertising opportunity rather than the machinery supporting it.

### Selecting One or More Locations

WaypointAds Commercial allows an advertiser to select more than one compatible Zone(s) for a Campaign.

The first Zone selected is important because it establishes the advertisement dimensions required by that Campaign. Once the first location has been chosen, WaypointAds allows additional Zones using the same dimensions to be selected while incompatible sizes are unavailable.

For example, if the advertiser first chooses a 970 × 250 Zone, other 970 × 250 locations can be included in the same Campaign. A 728 × 90 Zone would require a differently sized Creative and therefore cannot simply be added to that Campaign. A notice within the Wizard explains this to the advertiser as the selections are made.

This allows a single Campaign to appear in several appropriate locations around the website without requiring the advertiser to build a separate Campaign for every placement.

### Advertising Rates Remain Visible

The rate established for each Zone is displayed alongside the location.

This is important because advertisers can see that different positions may carry different advertising costs. A prominent position can therefore be priced differently from another location while remaining part of the same Campaign when the dimensions are compatible.

The advertiser makes the placement decision, but the Administrator determines which locations are offered and what they cost.

### Campaign Dates

The advertiser can also provide a Start Date and End Date for the Campaign.

These dates allow advertising to be planned around promotions, events, seasonal campaigns or other time-sensitive activity rather than requiring the advertiser to manually start and stop everything at precisely the right moment.

Where dates are not required, the Campaign can be created without setting them.

1. **Use an Existing Advertisement or Create a New One:** Once the basic Campaign information and locations have been selected, the advertiser has two routes available.
2. **Create & Choose Existing** allows the advertiser to build the Campaign and select from advertising Creatives they have already created.
3. **Create & Upload Advertisement** continues directly into the process of creating another advertisement for the new Campaign.

This distinction is useful because WaypointAds does not require an advertiser to upload another copy of an advertisement merely because they are creating another Campaign. Existing Creatives can be reused where appropriate.

For a new advertiser, however, there may not yet be anything to reuse. The upload route allows the Campaign and its first Creative to be created as part of one guided process.

### The Required Advertisement Size

When the advertiser creates a new advertisement for a Campaign, WaypointAds already knows the dimensions required by the Zones selected earlier in the Campaign Wizard. The Required Advertisement Size is displayed prominently before the Creative is uploaded, giving the advertiser a clear specification to follow.

There is no need to remember dimensions from a Rate Card or return to an earlier screen to check them. WaypointAds carries the required size forward through the Campaign creation process, helping ensure that the Creative being supplied is suitable for every selected Zone.

### Uploading the Advertisement

Advertisers create their advertisements by uploading an image Creative in one of the supported JPG, PNG or WebP formats. Advertising code is not accepted through the Advertiser Portal; that capability is reserved for the Administrator.

The advertiser simply chooses the appropriate image from their device. Once selected, WaypointAds displays the filename and a preview, allowing the advertiser to confirm that the correct Creative has been chosen before continuing.

Because the Campaign has already established the required advertisement dimensions, WaypointAds can keep the Creative and its selected advertising locations working together. This guided approach reduces mistakes, simplifies the process for the advertiser and removes much of the routine checking that might otherwise fall to the Administrator.

### Completing the Advertisement Details

After the image has been accepted, the advertiser continues through the remaining advertisement information.

This includes the information WaypointAds needs to identify and use the Creative, such as its Advertisement Title, destination website address and image description.

The destination address determines where visitors will be sent when they select the advertisement, while the image description provides appropriate descriptive information for the Creative.

The Wizard then presents a final review before the advertisement is created.

![The last step, Campaign and Creative come together on WaypointAds](https://waypointads.com/images/production/tutorial/create-your-campaign-4.webp "Final Check before publishing.")

### Review Before Creation

The review stage gives the advertiser one final opportunity to inspect the important details before submitting the advertisement.

The Creative preview is shown alongside its title, destination website address and image description. Rather than immediately publishing whatever has been entered, WaypointAds makes the advertiser confirm the completed submission.

Selecting Create Advertisement then saves the Creative and associates it with the advertising process that brought the advertiser there.

Importantly, creating the advertisement does not necessarily mean that it immediately becomes live on the website.

### Creation Is Not the Same as Approval

The Campaign Wizard gives advertisers considerable freedom to prepare their own advertising, but it operates within WaypointAds' permissions and approval structure.

Unless the advertiser has been granted the appropriate Trusted Advertiser status, material requiring approval remains subject to Administrator review before it can be displayed.

This distinction is central to the Commercial workflow.

The advertiser can do the routine work of creating Campaigns, selecting available locations and supplying Creatives. The Administrator does not have to build everything on the customer's behalf, but still retains control over what is ultimately permitted to appear on the website.

Trusted Advertisers can be allowed to bypass certain routine approval requirements when the Administrator has deliberately granted that privilege.

### The Administrator Defines the Choices

Although the Campaign Wizard belongs to the Advertiser Portal, much of what appears within it originates with the Administrator.

The advertiser cannot simply invent a new advertising position or decide what a placement should cost. The Wizard presents the opportunities that have already been configured through WaypointAds.

The Administrator determines the available Zones, their dimensions, their advertising rates and the broader rules governing the advertising environment. The advertiser then chooses from those opportunities.

This creates an important division of responsibility: the Administrator builds the marketplace; the advertiser builds the Campaign.

### Why the Campaign Wizard Matters

Without a guided Campaign system, selling advertising can quickly become a surprisingly manual business. An advertiser tells the site owner what they want, somebody explains the available positions, image dimensions are exchanged, files arrive by email, Campaigns are manually assembled, and eventually everyone tries to remember exactly what was agreed.

The Campaign Wizard is designed to remove much of that routine work.

Advertisers can see the opportunities available to them, select compatible locations, understand the required Creative size, reuse existing advertisements or upload new ones, and submit the finished Campaign through a consistent process.

Meanwhile, the Administrator remains responsible for the structure, pricing and approval rules behind it all.

That is the real purpose of the WaypointAds Commercial Campaign Wizard: giving advertisers enough control to serve themselves without requiring the Administrator to surrender control of the website.
