What Is a Campaign?
A Campaign brings an advertising project to life.
If an Advertiser represents the person or business placing the advertisement, the Campaign defines what they want to achieve. It acts as the central hub that brings together the advertiser, the advertisements they wish to display, and the display zones where those advertisements can appear.
Every Creative belongs to a Campaign, making the Campaign the foundation of your advertising workflow.
Why Do I Need a Campaign?
Campaigns help organize advertising into manageable projects.
Rather than placing individual advertisements directly onto your website, WaypointAds groups related advertisements together inside a Campaign. This makes it easy to manage multiple advertisements for the same advertiser while keeping schedules, approval status, and statistics organized.
For example, a local restaurant might run a Summer Promotion, a Christmas Special, and a Valentine's Day campaign. Each Campaign belongs to the same Advertiser while remaining completely independent of the others.
What Information Can Be Stored?
A Campaign stores the information needed to manage an advertising project, including items such as:
- Campaign name
- Advertiser
- Campaign status
- Start and end dates
- Assigned display zones
- Rotation settings
- Administrative notes
Together, these settings determine how the campaign operates throughout your website.
Creating a Campaign
Creating a Campaign is straightforward.
Open the Campaigns manager and select New. Enter the campaign details, choose the Advertiser, configure the available options, and save the record.
Once the Campaign has been created, you can immediately begin adding Creatives.
The Save & Add Creative option provides a convenient workflow by taking you directly to the Creative editor with the new Campaign already selected.
Campaign Status
Every Campaign has a status that indicates whether it is available to display advertisements.
Depending on its current status, a Campaign may be active, paused, awaiting approval, or otherwise unavailable for display.
This allows administrators to control advertising without deleting Campaigns or removing their associated Creatives.
Editing a Campaign
Campaigns can be updated whenever requirements change.
You may wish to extend a promotion, change display zones, update scheduling, or modify other settings. Editing a Campaign does not affect the Advertiser and allows the associated Creatives to continue being managed within the same advertising project.
Deleting a Campaign
A Campaign cannot be deleted while Creatives are still associated with it.
WayPointAds protects your advertising data by preventing the accidental removal of Campaigns that are still in use. If Creatives exist, you'll be prompted to remove them before the Campaign can be deleted.
This helps preserve the relationships between Campaigns and the advertisements they contain.
Best Practices
A well-organized Campaign structure makes advertising much easier to manage.
We recommend:
- Give each Campaign a meaningful name.
- Create separate Campaigns for different promotions or objectives.
- Use scheduling whenever appropriate.
- Keep Campaigns focused on a single advertising goal.
- Pause Campaigns that are temporarily inactive rather than deleting them.
A little organization today makes managing advertising much easier as your website grows.
What Comes Next?
Once you've created a Campaign, it's time to add one or more Creatives.
Creatives are the advertisements your visitors actually see. They provide the images, links, or other content that bring each Campaign to life.
