Why Is an Approval Workflow Needed?
Not every advertisement should appear on your website the moment it is created.
Whether you're managing your own advertising or working with multiple advertisers, it's often a good idea to review new advertisements before they become visible to your visitors.
The Approval Workflow gives administrators that control by allowing advertisements to be reviewed before they are eligible for display.
How the Approval Workflow Works
When a new Creative is submitted, it enters the approval process.
Until it has been approved, the Creative remains unavailable for display. This allows administrators to review the advertisement, verify that it meets the website's requirements, and ensure it is suitable for the intended Campaign and Zone.
Once approved, the Creative immediately becomes available to participate in its Campaign.
What Can Be Reviewed?
Before approving a Creative, administrators may wish to confirm:
- The advertisement is appropriate for the website.
- Images display correctly.
- Destination links are accurate.
- Alternative text has been provided where appropriate.
- The Creative matches the intended display size.
- The advertisement complies with the website's advertising policies.
Taking a few moments to review each Creative helps maintain a consistent and professional advertising environment.
Administrator Notifications
Whenever approval is required, WaypointAds notifies the appropriate administrator that a Creative is awaiting review.
This helps ensure new advertisements are processed promptly while preventing unapproved content from appearing on the website.
Approving or Declining a Creative
Administrators can review each Creative and decide whether it should be approved for display.
Once approved, the Creative becomes eligible to appear on your website, provided the associated Campaign is active and all other display requirements have been met.
If a Creative requires changes, it can be declined instead of approved. When declining a Creative, administrators have the opportunity to include a message explaining the reason for the decision. This allows clear feedback to be provided, whether requesting a revised image, correcting a destination link, adjusting the Creative to match the intended Zone size, or addressing any other issue.
Providing constructive feedback helps maintain a consistent approval process while making it easier for the advertiser or content creator to understand what changes, if any, are required before the Creative can be approved.
Why This Matters
The Approval Workflow helps protect both your website and your advertisers.
Administrators remain in control of published advertising, while advertisers can be confident that every advertisement receives the same careful review before it appears.
For websites managed by multiple people, the Approval Workflow also provides a consistent process that helps maintain quality across every advertising campaign.
Best Practices
We recommend:
- Review new Creatives as soon as practical.
- Verify images and destination links before approval.
- Ensure advertisements match the intended Zone size.
- Keep approval standards consistent across all advertisers.
- Approve only advertisements that are ready for publication.
A consistent approval process helps maintain the quality and professionalism of your advertising system.
